Happy Easter

Magnolias in Bordeaux

Work has kept me from blogging recently – two exciting projects, not for me but for others. I’ve also been away for a few days — but more about that later.

Meantime, I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter weekend.

About jingsandthings

I am me. What do I like? Colour Shapes Textures Paintings, photographs, sculptures, woven tapestries, wonderful materials. The love of materials probably comes from my father who was a textile buyer, and I grew up hearing the names of mills and manufacturers which sounded magical and enticing. Glass in all its soft and vibrant colours and flowing shapes, even sixties glass which makes its own proud statement. A book I can immerse myself in. Meals with family or friends with lots of chat and laughter (and probably a bottle or two of wine). The occasional trip abroad to experience the sights, sounds, food, conversation, quality of light and warmth of other countries. To revel in differences and be amazed by similarities. I like to create and to experience, to try and to achieve. And then there are words – read, heard, written at my keyboard, or scrawled on sticky notes, or along the edges of dog-eared supermarket receipts excavated from the unexplored nooks of my handbag. What do I dislike? Cold Snow Bad design Fast food Condescension

I wish I could the same for the weather here. Yesterday was sunny but cool. Today we woke up to a blanket of snow and it’s still snowing. Luckily it’s a very light snow but it doesn’t seem to want to stop. I’m glad we had our Easter dinner yesterday. Time to relax.

I really love this photograph. It is rainy and cold today, Easter morning. No time for Easter bonnets.

    • It was taken in Bordeaux – on the one reasonably warm day we had out of five. I love magnolias, but they won’t survive here, though they seem to thrive in other parts of Scotland.

  3. Snow in April – how disappointing. We’ve had a few flurries here and the temperature hasn’t been great. We had a few days in Bordeaux. Wondered what to take clothes wise. Opted for layers including my waterproof jacket. One day quite warm, the others quite chilly. I’ve returned with a nasty cold that’s making me feel tired and miserable. Feet up by the fire this evening, and early to bed.

Beautiful! Happy Easter! Cold and miserable here!! Winter on the way!

    • Missed last week’s good weather as still battling flu. Now it’s colder though spring flowers and shrubs are beginning to make themselves seen. Some warmth for sitting around in would be nice.

  5. Easter on coastal Georgia is a warm and pollen-filled time of year. Everything that can bloom is blooming, and the tourists are working on their 4-day suntans. Great day for a walk on the beach to walk off a big lunch. Happy Easter. ~James
